What does that mean for Wynter and Malachi when their paths cross? Wynter Myers is educated, smart, and has a full ride to Spelman College. Living with her parents she has always been surrounded by love. She knew one day she would be married just like her parents and have a great love story. Malachi Evans, a smart jock, with a full ride to Harvard can’t let go of the things that will cause him to lose everything that he has worked so hard for. Being as though he was raised by his mother, he knew exactly how to love a woman, he just chose not to. Being a player seemed much more pleasant. Born and raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Reds Johnson is one of New Jersey's brightest stars when it comes to writing novels. Her passion for writing evolved from an intimate love of reading, and at the young age of nine years old she penned her first novel.
Since then, Reds has written over forty novels and short stories, with Silver Platter Hoe series being her most successful. Her favorite part of writing is expressing her creativity through her words, while at the same time using her imagination to highlight topics and events that her readers can relate to. In 2019, she graced the cover of Strawberry Lit magazine, and was awarded a publishing contract with Wahida Clark and her literary empire Wahida Clark Presents Innovative Publishing. Reds' books cover many genres: urban, romance, erotica, bbw, and teen stories, with each title being just as intriguing as the next. Her stories are so real and cleverly written, they jump right off the page. Reds Johnson is without a doubt the future of African-American literature. The sky is the limit for this young, talented author. About her most recent book Whew, chile! The crew is back for Valentine's Day, and the drama is at an all-time high! RELL wants to embrace their newfound freedom after years of nonstop drama, but DESIRE can't seem to leave the past behind. Her heart is telling her that history is bound to repeat itself, but Rell is determined to keep that from happening. He is hoping to bring a smile to her face with everything he's been planning for Valentine's Day, but with ASANI and her brother, DJ, still on the loose, there's no telling what's going to happen. Will true love, accompanied by red roses and red hearts conquer all? Or will the splatter of red blood turn Rell and Desire's V-Day upside down? When did you first decide you wanted to become an author? I was nine years old when I first realized I had a passion for writing. Ever since then, I always made a way to turn everything I saw into a book. How did you decide on the idea for your current book? A Silver Platter Hoe V-Day was my way of giving the readers who enjoyed the Silver Platter Hoe series an update on the characters. What is the process like for you in publishing a book? Umm, I guess you can say the process is easy for me now that I have people that don't mind working with me an email and phone call away. What’s so rewarding about writing books and being an author? I've written 50 books without a high school diploma. I just recently got my GED July 3rd of this year so the rewarding part of me being an author is knowing that I was capable of doing something I loved without taking the traditional "you need an education" road. Now, understand that this is not me telling people they don't need an education. This is me strictly speaking upon my journey and how many people downed me and didn't believe in me because I dropped out of high school in the tenth grade. Tell us about a time you felt like giving up and how you overcame it. After I left my first publishing company back in 2014 because I was being robbed of my royalties and my image was being tarnished. To know that so many people hated me and didn't even know me was hard. Then, its as if things went down hill and each time I signed again it was to a far much worst publisher that attempted to dig a deeper hole for Reds Johnson. Now, here it is 2021 and I'm lucky if I barely get a total of 5 sales when I drop a book. There’s more to being an author than writing a book. How do you manage to handle the business side of things? Whew, I bumped my head several times before I said let me take a break and study the industry. You can never do enough research. One of the biggest things I've learned is that its really not business when it comes to the literary industry. Its all about who you know and what clique you're apart of sadly. Do you have an editor or do you edit your own books? I now have an editor for my books and I am so grateful for her. Who does the cover art for your book(s)? It varies honestly. Felicia Ann, Candice Persail, Brittani Williams, Quardeay Julien. Tell us about your last book signing. I've never had one but I plan to. Besides social media, what other methods are you using to get the word out about your book(s)? Pop Up shops, and pretty much hearsay. I tend to leave my business cards in local stores. Tell us about your 9-5 I no longer work a 9-5. I strictly work from home. I write my books and I also have several businesses that includes a fashion line, lip gloss line, lash line, and skin care line. If you could quit your 9-5 to become a full-time author, would you? That's actually what I did. What are your thoughts on dating? Are you single, married, divorced, widowed? I don't like my time wasted and I tend to give more than I receive. I grew tired of that so, I'm very much single. How do you get through the tough times in life when life throws what it throws at you? I pray and I cry and I pray and I cry some more. How did you get through the COVID-19 pandemic? Prayer and staying to myself really. What is one goal you want to accomplish for yourself in 2022? I want to break out of this hold I feel like the industry has on me. I just really want to be able to drop a book and it sells because its a good book instead of people seeing my name and simply saying "I'm not supporting her because I HEARD.... What's one piece advice you would give an up and coming author? Every helping hand isn't a genuine one because even salt looks like sugar. Caught Up Lovin’ A Trill One Toi Hamilton Ford isn’t the type of woman that needs to be taken care of. She was raised to be the epitome of a strong, independent woman. She’s never pictured herself as the type that needed saving because she always knew she could put on a cape and save herself. She has a plan—a plan for her future and what she wants her life to look like. However, all of that changes when she meets and eventually marries Tyson Ford. For the last five years, Toi has been living a lie. The comfortable life she leads as a wife to a local entrepreneur and mother to two little girls is turned completely upside down as she discovers that Tyson has been keeping more than a couple of secrets from her. The effects of his dishonesty sets her on a path to a reality that she least expects. She soon realizes just how easy it is to get caught up in the life Tyson tries to hide from her. Toi discovers that perhaps Tyson’s true identity was always just below the surface. Instead, she may be the one that ends up changing. As a mother of three and military spouse, Shirmel found herself moving often after high school, but one thing did not alter - her passion for writing.
Shirmel’s early love for writing emerged from witnessing an older cousin write poems and plays. This inspired her to write, starting with poems, plays, and songs. The inspiration led Shirmel to penning her very own short story. Though she’d won contests in school for her writing, it wasn’t until 2015 with the encouragement of her husband that she was ready to submit a book for publishing. Knowing the literary industry requires constant learning and growth, Shirmel has set a goal to become a well-known author or screenplay writer. She gives all the honor to God, as he is the reason and the strength that pushes her forward with each story she pens. Born on June 14, 1973, Jodaéa is a cross-genre author of romantic suspense and mystery thrillers. Raised in both Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland, she attended Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland as well as Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia. She is also a Registered Nurse and member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc..
All of her life, Jodaéa always seemed to find herself either in or around the most unusual (and sometimes unbelievable) situations, often asking herself 'Why me?' From witnessing a neighbor’s death in 1979 at the age of 5, being the first on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident in 1999, to observing the supernatural in a hospital room in 2006. In 2008, after much encouragement from family and friends to chronicle her past experiences, Jodaéa finally decided to give writing a try. She says her inspirations come from recalling past experiences then asking herself, What's the worst that could have happened? then letting the stories write themselves! “I know my stories are interesting, entertaining, and insightful. My novels have stories within the story,” she says. “Because this society is one of instant gratification, my novels are quick reads. I don’t employ useless trivia or insignificant narration to simply fill pages. I love to keep my readers pulled into my stories by appealing to their five senses…What are the characters feeling, smelling, hearing, etc. I get right to the point and pounce! I try not to give the reader a chance to put my book down." Some of her favorite authors are Robert Parker, Stephen King, Michael Baisden, and John Lescroart. Every situation in her novels is based in fact with fictional backstories. However, there is ALWAYS a lesson to be learned in the end! Soon to release her third literary work, Jodaéa says she is looking forward to the time when the author can take care of the nurse. Reina Queen is a native of Mansfield, Louisiana but is currently living in Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated from Mansfield High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems Support from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University). She has had a passion for writing since high school, beginning with writing poetry. It was a short story written in college that had her mind set that she could be a writer when the professor believed her nonfiction story was actually based upon true life events. After a few setbacks, she thought it would be impossible for her to resume her passion for reading and her dreams of writing. After reading her first ever Urban Fiction novel, she realized her passion was for Urban Fiction. She started writing as a hobby until she received motivation from some friends that she should pursue it telling her “it won't hurt to try, you will never know until you do.” She never thought she would make it to this spot of being a published author. Pushing through obstacles and staying focused, she kept in mind to not give up, to accomplish her goal and use her gift. As an older person starting out in this industry, she thought the industry was mostly for the younger people, especially Urban Fiction. She knew she had the talent but was just scared to pursue it. “Never let fear stop you from being what you want to be. God has given us all gifts and we need to use them. If I would have sat on my gift, I would be giving up and not making a good example for my daughter.” Her hobbies include spending time with her family, reading, cooking, and staying involved with her church.
