Michelle Mitchell (Marietta, GA)

Picture
Michelle Mitchell has always been creative; the builder of play forts, and the writer of numerous songs that she hoped to hear on the radio. She always enjoyed singing, dancing, reading and writing. One of her dreams was to be a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, but when that didn’t happen, she continued to focus on songwriting. She knew she could shine brightest if she could work in a field where she could create, but she had an awkward start in finding her voice.

A Georgia native, Michelle attended Georgia Southern University where she majored in Communication Arts and minored in Journalism. After graduating, she had a short stint as a feature writing before returning to school and entering corporate America. Needing a creative outlet in between courses, Michelle got inspired and began working on her first novel, Truth Is....

In December 2015, Brown Girls Books put out a call for submissions for an anthology called, The Ex Chronicles. Michelle's submission was selected out of the 300 submissions received. The anthology was published March 8, and would be her first published work. She would later earned the opportunity to contribute to Single Mama Dating Drama, another Brown Girls Books anthology. On November 1st, she released her debut novel, Truth Is…. This is her first self-published novel.

When she’s not writing, she enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, and reading. Michelle is a diehard fanatic of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Hawks. She still resides in Georgia, where she is a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church in Marietta. You can write her at [email protected].

In 2014 she began writing her first novel with hope it would be good enough to get acknowledged. After submitting her novel to Major Ink Publications. Her prayers were answered when Author and Publisher Thai responded to her submission. From then on Morgan as pushed and strived to be amongst the others who take pride in writing. Serendipity released her first novel, Ember’s Flame, in August 2016 and it quickly shot to the number one spot on the Amazon African American Erotica list. When asked why she chose to write erotica, Serendipity said: “In the past, erotica has been thrown a bit of shade; folks act like you can’t talk about sex. Why not? There’s so much negativity in the world. But sex, well sex is fun. My characters are regular people having extraordinary fun. And we all like to have fun, right?” She asked and then she winked her eye.

Serendipity was born in Baltimore, Maryland but moved to North Carolina as a teenager so she has the grit of a northerner but the charm of a southern belle. She currently resides in Southwest Florida with her husband and 3-year-old daughter.
