Dawn was born in Freehold, New Jersey raised by a beautiful family and now traveling abroad, while writing inspirational, spiritual and healing words of wisdom. My name is Dawn Gregory and I am divinely connected to a co-creator (channeled words) within a higher realm of life. I began this journey from a Near Death Experience (NDE) as I like to say a “New Divine Experience”. I have realized that a very big part of my life lies within the words that I am given to write. When I write, it connects all of the pieces of the puzzle together called life.
My genre is Poetry/Non-fiction which began as chatter from the NDE slowly seeping into my existence as the world became my inspiration and I The Pen. I have been inspired by traveling the world and writing my story down on paper in words and pictures combining both telling a story. Author, Speaker, Storyteller, Philanthropist and Poetess, my mantra in life is “I Am Here.” To Help People Speak Love and Live Their Truth. Dr. Monekka Munroe is a Florida native, born in Quincy, FL (Gadsden County) and raised in Gainesville, FL (Alachua County). She earned both bachelor and master’s degrees from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). Her doctorate degree was attained from Nova Southeastern University (NSU). Monekka is a university professor, Early Childhood Trauma expert, and published author. Her current research interests include childhood trauma’s impact on the left cerebral hemispheric brain development. Adding to this body of research, she’s penned a chapter in the criminal justice textbook, The Disparate Treatment of Black Youth in the Juvenile Justice System.
Chapter 14, The Acceptance of Rape Culture and Sexual Violence Against Black Girls in Athletics and Entertainment, was written to bring an awareness to an issue that she describes as often overlooked, disrespected, and dismissed. The purpose of the chapter is to educate readers about the many atrocities that cause “Black Girl Magic” to be hidden behind walls of guilt, shame, self-doubt, and in some cases, addiction, and incarceration. In 2016, Monekka was selected as a TED Talk presenter, where she confidently stood in the center of the famous red circle and discussed “Criminal Injustice.” To an audience of over 800 attendees, she bravely told the story of how her life journey led to a vast interest in the criminal justice system. Outside of academia, she has written multiple books hoping to encourage, inspire, and support Black women as they endure various life events while trying to find psychological and spiritual peace. As she continues to raise her voice as a fierce advocate for Black men, women, and children around the globe, her silent prayer is for them to discover their place on this earth, secure that space, and unapologetically find the courage to live. Anthony Arnold, born in Tampa and raised by his grandmother in a little town called Quincy in the Florida panhandle, wrote his first piece in the third grade and fell in love with writing ever since that moment; writing has become a comfort and a mainstay to keep him focused. As an avid reader of all genres of literature, Anthony has found a particular passion for black history.
He believes that his ancestry and the ones that have come before him have given their blood, sweat and tears to make it possible for him to live a life of freedom and liberation. Anthony is saddened to the fact that the current generation lacks knowledge and don’t seem to know or speak of family history, our history or black history. Writing gives Anthony the ability to educate those that have no clue about the things that African Americans have faced and write of things that they will never be taught in schools, shedding light on the strength of our people. Anthony’s love for fellow man grew during his service to our country where he served and was awarded numerous medals, including The Air Force Achievement Medal-1986, 1993 and 2001 and many more. His desire is to show the younger generation where they come from and to let them know we are much more than what society has labeled us! Winner of the 2015 National Poetry Awards Freedom Poet of the Year and the 2018 BHM Poet. About his book Winner of the 2015 National Poetry Award (Freedom Poet of the Year), Anthony Arnold is a poet that has always shed light on inequality and racism. He uses poetry to make the world understand the plight of black people. This is a necessary collection of poetry that shows love to the black community. Some pieces will make you weep with the sorrow of its reality, while others will make you full of pride and triumph. No matter what piece you read, just know that you will be moved with hope and a feeling of being seen and heard. “We are burying our people in record numbers and no one seems to have an answer.
