Tanasia Thomas is many things. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend. Using her experience with life, relationships, and people in general, she takes the lessons that she’s learned in life to educate and motivate others. She enjoys writing Urban Fiction and African American Romance. Her goal is to eventually expand her repertoire to incorporate other genres, write a classic novel, and a New York Times best seller. Tanasia describes herself as a true Capricorn, forever striving for excellence and success.

UBAWA: Name 3 things about yourself readers may not know
Tanasia: 1. I'm really an introvert. I love talking to people, but I am most at peace when I am alone.
2. I am obsessed with the color black and animal print
3. All of my book ideas begin from dreams

UBAWA: What is your biggest inspiration?
Tanasia: Hmmm, hard question. I would say that my biggest inspiration is my husband. He is the reason I fight so hard for success. He never lets me doubt myself and he's always planning for the future. That alone makes me want to be the best I can be.

UBAWA: What led up to you becoming an author?
Tanasia: I've been an author as long as I can remember. I published my first book through a contest at my school when I was in the 3rd grade and minored in Journalism. Writing is in my blood.

UBAWA: How would you describe your writing style?
Tanasia: I would say versatile. I can take you from corporate America, to another world, through the hood and back again.

UBAWA: What would you say is the most important thing an author should do before publishing his/her book?
Tanasia: Do your research. Make connections with people in the industry and do your own research. Never take someone's word for it.

UBAWA: If you could go back and change one thing about your book, what would it be?
Tanasia: I rewrite to possibly lead to a spin-off with some of the other characters. There are a few of them that people wanted to know more about.

UBAWA: When you’re not writing, what are you doing?
Tanasia: Wow! I'm busy. I'm a wife and mother first. I'm a teacher. I shop, work on my blog, Musings of Susamae, travel, and try out new restaurants. I love an adventure and making memories with my husband and sons.

UBAWA: How can readers and others in the literary community reach you?

About Smoke & Mirrors

Pierce is young, beautiful, intelligent and seemingly perfect. A promising young medical student with a passion for helping others, she's trying desperately to forget the abuse of her past by selflessly serving others. Her life is going as planned until she meets Gabe, a handsome street-smart businessman who sweeps her off her feet. In the midst of their love affair, the pair soon learn that blood is thicker than water, lust is a weapon deadlier than any bullet, jealousy is a potent poison and money is truly the root of all evil. They each hold secrets of their own that could ruin their relationship and change their lives forever. As friends become foes, the past comes back for a second chance and secrets are revealed, can their love pass the test when skeletons start to come out of the closet?
