Meet ​Shannon Spruill (Cheektowaga, New York)

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Shannon Spruill has a passion for reading and a very creative imagination. She always had a vision of becoming an author. Shannon graduated Suma Cum Laude from Bryant and Stratton College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Boston University. She has worked in the computer technology field for over 20 years and is a modern day gadget geek. Looking for a new road to travel Shannon decided to pursue her lifelong desire to write her first book and has begun to embark upon this journey. Her desire has always been to write fiction but she felt she had a story to tell. 

Shannon’s first book was released December 1, 2010. “My Reflection in the Mirror” is a look at some personal demons that she had to overcome. She hopes by telling her story she can inspire and empower other women.

October 4, 2013 Shannon lost her son Brian in an automobile accident. This was a devastating tragedy but instead of sinking into a dark place, Shannon grieved and rose up with the help of God and began helping other parents that have lost a child. With the help of her husband, Shannon started a support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have lost a child.

It continues to be a long journey but with her deep spiritual conviction and relationship with God, Shannon has learned how to overcome the obstacles in her life. She credits everything in her life and who she is today to God. Her second book was released as a bundle with her first book, “The Shattered Mirror: Picking up the Pieces. The book chronicles her journey after the loss of her child. It shows how she pushed past despair to reach her purpose.
