Author Bio: China

China, a self-proclaimed lyrical storyteller, camped out on floors in recording studios throughout the city of Memphis in the late nineties, listening to music and allowing it to inspire her writing. Her first love was music and the ability to envision the stories behind the music was innate. Throughout the years, she mastered the art of character development and used Hip Hop and R&B as a way to bring her characters to life. As the nineties gave way to the two-thousands, she was able to circumvent the changing world of Hip Hop and continue to share her stories with underground rap audiences in Memphis, Chicago, and Atlanta. Then, one night in a studio in South Memphis, she was recording a song about a young girl who would not allow people to love her. The producer was so blown away by the story, that he asked her if she knew the person in the rap. China told him that she had created the character and the character’s background. He told her that she should turn the rap into a novel. After producing several more “rap stories” and receiving the same response, China knew that it was her destiny to introduce her stories to the world, in written form. However, it was not until an old friend; B’Shone, who was a published author, and shared the same love for Urban Fiction that she did, re-entered her life and presented her with an opportunity of a lifetime. They combined their writing styles and co-wrote her first novel; Tangled in a Lover’s Web 1, and released it in the summer of 2019. In the winter of 2019, she delivered her first solo novel; LACY: Caviar to Collard Greens. It was one of the two prequels to the Tangled in a Lover’s Web story. The second being, B’SHONE: How It All Starts. With no plans of slowing down, China teamed up with her co-author for the second time, and they produced Tangled in a Lover’s Web 2: Collapsed Web. It was released in early summer 2020.

China was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, and Union University, with a master’s degree in English Education. She was introduced to Urban Fiction when her cousin handed her a copy of Sister Souljah’s novel, The Coldest Winter Ever. The novel opened the door to a world she never knew existed, Street Literature. The plot lines and characters were so real, that she became an instant fan of the genre. Over the past twenty years, she has read over three-hundred Urban Fiction books. She believes that a good writer must first be an avid reader.

Currently, China lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where she teaches English to high school students. When she is not developing young minds and training future authors, she is spending time with her daughter and a granddaughter.

Tangled in a Lover’s Web Part 1
by B’Shone and China

Memphis, TN, is the “Home of the Blues” in more ways than just music. The atmosphere of the “Blues” hovers over the city like dark clouds, so it is no surprise that the wicked storms of Murder, Adultery, Sex, Lies, Revenge, and Dark Secrets rain down on the weary and desperate citizens of the “Bluff City”.
In the tale, Tangled in a Lover’s Web, the weary and desperate become “spiders” caught up in the web of deceit. The “spiders” crawl in and out of each other’s lives leaving a trail of destruction behind, as they struggle to distinguish between “Love” and “Lust”.

28-year-old Luther Stewart is at a crossroads in his marriage to Victoria Walker-Stewart, when he has a chance encounter with an old flame; Malaysia Garrison-Tong. Regret, selfishness, and lust drive him to her doorstep and eventually into her bed. Unfortunately, Malaysia is married to one of Luther’s clients; Ji Tong, but she is still in love with Luther. While she slowly becomes entangled in the marriage of Victoria and Luther, she is forced to question the materialistic foundation of her own marriage. As Luther continues to spin his web of lies, he does not realize that Malaysia and Victoria are unknowingly weaving webs around each other. Eventually, the web that Luther spins around his failing marriage entraps him, and he is forced to face-off with his worst enemy; himself. Amid Luther’s infidelity and inner turmoil, Victoria seeks attention and ultimately finds what she thinks is love, in a talented Urban Fiction writer; B’Shone. As B’Shone enters the web, his presence goes unnoticed until the web he spins, catches all the “spiders”.

In the end, all the webs become one, and the life of each “spider” is permanently altered, when dark secrets are revealed, and the web collapses.

Will Luther and Victoria Stewart continue to be Tangled in a Lover’s Web, or will they find their way back to each other and honor their vows?
