This is the first book I have read by Shakir Rashaan and I must say I was impressed. It was evident that the author did thorough research as well as outlined the book. There were unforeseen plots and events that kept the reader well engrossed in the story. I'm pretty sure I read this story within 3-4 days because I was hooked from page one. I look forward to reading more from this author. :) Book Title: Deviant Intent: Obsession Number of Pages: 323 Rating: 5 Fiction/Non-Fiction: Fiction Who would you recommend this book to? Just Read Book Club What did you like most about this book? I enjoyed the plot of the book as it was unexpected. I love a good suspense novel. I also loved the structure of the book and the grammar and the formatting. Very well done. What did you like least about this book? I didn't expect the threesome in this book but it didn't make me dislike the book. In fact, it had me intrigued because I wondered how it would all turn out for the detective, Nikki, and NaTasha. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? Friends, Coworkers, associates. What did you like most about this book? I like the action with the thriller and mystery. I love the use of Egyptian names. What did you like least about this book? If I didn't read the reviews I would have found it odd about the capitalization. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? Explain more about The Dominate/Submissive lifestyle. Someone not paying attention would think the author didn't edit instead of showing the relationship between them. Reviewed by: T.P. Miller ************************************************ Deviant Intent: Obsession is very different than most of the books I typically read. The synopsis the author gives really had me intrigued. As I was reading the book I began to get disappointed. The main character, P.I Dominic Law, you do not get to feel the character out and get a true connection with him. I would have liked more detail on the cases. I suggest, author Shakir Rashaan focus on writing the story rather than giving the readers a glimpse of BDSM when it’s a mystery. Number of Pages: 302 Rating: 2 Fiction/Non-Fiction: Fiction What did you like most about this book? It was very different from most books I read and it reminded me of many crime sitcoms I watch on TV such as Law and Order SVU. What did you like least about this book? The book did not spend a lot of time focusing on the crimes. I was confused when P.I Dominic Law was on a case and then an interruption of the BDSM. There were many details about bondage and sadomasochism which did not pertain to the crime cases. I was looking for more information revolving the cases and the serial killer. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? More suspense, more mystery centered about the cases as opposed to the BDSM breaks between each one. Reviewed by: Nadia McAllister
