​ Meet Darryl Johnson (Sandersville, Georgia)

Darryl J. Johnson grew up reading everything by Stephen King and sneaking to read his mom’s Harlequin novels thus learning the power of words and mental imagery from two very unlikely sources. In his adult years he was introduced to Zane, E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey and Michael Baisden and his mind was blown! They made mommas Harlequin novels look like a Nancy Drew Mystery and his truly erotic side was awakened.
Darryl developed and refined his raw and often graphic style of writing in the Georgia prison system. He was encouraged to publish his poetry by a nosy, yet well intentioned, girlfriend when he forgot to hide his “rhyme book” any curiosity got the better of her.
 
Writing mostly erotic short stories and poetry Darryl likes to tell people “I don’t have a dirty mind; I have a very sexy imagination.”

What is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration are the people that said that I write too nasty or laughed when i asked them to purchase my book. I use my nay-sayers to make me greater.
 
 
What led up to you becoming an author?
I've been writing semi-seriously since high school. back then I used my way with words to get females to overlook my stutter and give a shy brother a chance. I published my first book of erotic poetry after my then girlfriend found my rhyme book and provided me with the positive reinforcement needed to take the necessary steps to self publication.
 
 
How would you describe your writing style?
My writing style is best described as raw, extremely graphic, uncut and down right nasty at times
 
 
What would you say is the most important thing an author should do before publishing his/her book?
Read aloud line for line then edit and re-edit.
 
 
If you could go back and change one thing about your book, what would it be?
Spend more money on graphic design lol
 
 
When you’re not writing, what are you doing?
When I'm not writing or working my day job I'm spending time with my kids...my army of nine (8 boys and 1 very protected little girl)
