Who is your target audience? What group of people would you like for your book to reach? : Anyone who loves to read, but specifically those who want to read a compelling book without profanity or graphic sex. Whether that reader is a Christian or not, they will enjoy my work.
What inspired you to become an author and write this book? Who/What is your biggest influence? : I've always loved to read, and that translated into a desire to write as well. To Whom Much Is Given started as a short story and kept growing until I had a full novel. I wasn't aware there was such a genre as Christian Fiction until I read This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti, and hadn't seen any African-American Christian fiction until I read Nobody's Perfect by Patricia Haley-Glass. Reading Peretti inspired me to keep writing, and meeting Patricia connected me with someone who taught me how to self-publish and encouraged me to go for it.
When did you know you wanted to become a writer?: I've wanted to write since I was in grade school. I was that kid who actually liked writing book reports and such, and as I got older, that love of words never left me.
Is there a specific message in your book you want your readers to grasp?: All of my work deals with relationships, whether romantic relationships, family relationships, friend relationships or the relationship between people and God.
How long have you been writing? What genre do you write? : I've been a published author since October 2000. My genre is Christian fiction.
How has your family/friends supported your new and upcoming book? : My family, friends and church family have supported each and every work I've put out, and tell me they will continue
What’s next?: My next novel is Female Problems, due for a June 2011 release. This story involves three Christian men, the women in their lives and the strong bond of friendship that, along with their relationships with Jesus Christ, keeps them going.
Thirty-year-old Erik Dawson survived a car crash at the cost of his mobility, his car, his job and his girlfriend. As Erik’s body heals, and his faith is tested, he now seeks to rejoin the living.
Sam Sanders is saved, tall, handsome and gainfully employed. He’s active in his church, with his fraternity and in his community, yet he can’t keep a woman to save his life. At twenty-eight, even he is starting to wonder why he isn’t married yet.
Garvey Flowers pursues a career in comedy and a relationship with a woman like none he’s ever known. At twenty-four, Garvey feels the pressure of a career that is not as strong as he'd hoped and a fiancee who is three years older and earns five times his salary.
After a chance encounter brings them together, these three brothers in Christ form a bond. Together, they explore important issues such as faith, relationships, dreams, career goals and where to get a decent haircut.
