Adult women of any age What did you like most about this book? This book was extraordinarily well written. The author clearly loves extravagant word use and word play. Even though typical wording wasn't used, it was easily understood and made the reading a delightful treat. Who doesn't love a love story? Journeying through the bonds of love with It Bit and Braces boy as children through adulthood as Lorraine and Isaiah was captivating. The manner in which the author dealt with the struggles of hurt and betrayal and destructive behavior showcased the importance of valuing other people's feelings and taking good care of their heart. I especially was drawn to Isaiah's character in the way that he even from childhood had such a grown-up demeanor. What did you like least about this book? I wished in part that the story had not dwelled so much on Lorraine's struggle to overcome her initial heartbreak and unwillingness to trust Isaiah. I do understand that Lorraine's lack of communication and fear of asking the necessary questions made for the crux of the climax and story, but I do wish at times the author would have allowed for this communication and this in turn could have led the story in a couple of different angles or sub-stories. I also wish it had been longer to see the official "public kiss" day. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I would've loved for the story to be longer. However in order to do so it definitely would've needed at least an additional sub-storyline. What was your overall impression of this book? If you love romance novels and love stories, this is a beautifully written novella to read. The story of the innocence in pure love and watching it flourish over time speaks to the inner-girl fairytales in women and makes for an enjoyable read. Two thumbs up! Reviewed by: K Tyler Rating: 4 Who would you recommend this book to? Friends What did you like most about this book? I loved the mystery of this novel. The author constantly left remarks such as, "it's far from over" or "the worst was yet to come." That maintained my interest throughout the novel. What did you like least about this book? I feel like there were a lot of unanswered questions. Like the appearance of the lamb, the bloody crow feathers, the repeated question of "do you see now," and a few other things that I felt could have been given more background. I understand that most of these things are related to God and the Devil, but I think more info on how it's relatable would have been good. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? Provide more background on Miranda and why she was such a psycho to Jacob. I also felt like there was something missing, but I can't quite put my finger on it; so hopefully it's revealed in the sequel. What was your overall impression of this book? Overall, I actually enjoyed this novel. I must admit, it started out a little slow for me. You could tell there was something lurking and impending, but it seemed like the author kept you in the dark as to what exactly it was for too long. Jacob Forlorn was the epitome of good. He gained a heart of gold from his mother and the biggest fear was that he would one day turn out to be like his dad. While everyone was focused solely on Jacob becoming his dad, they neglected to worry about the company Jacob chose to keep, such as the second love of his life, Miranda and his best friend Lucian. Both attributed heavily to Jacob's ultimate demise. Had it not been for either of them, I think Jacob would have been much better off. This novel had very few errors and was well edited. Great job, Lazarus Infinity! Reviewed by: L Charles Rating: 5 Who would you recommend this book to? Individuals who enjoy romance, poetry, and sensuality What did you like most about this book? Even though it spoke on a sensual subject matter, Sweet Mangos tastefully moves back and forth through various suggestions but never coming across as crude or vulgar. What did you like least about this book? I think the author/poet could have thrown a short story in the book, maybe in the middle or at the end of the book. It would've been a great touch. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? One thing, and that is the author could have provided the relevance of the title in reference to a sensual fruit. What was your overall impression of this book? Sweet Mangos by Kottyn Campbell is an excursion to another side of love. This is the side where a woman does not bash a man, complain to other women about a man, or expound about the ills a man may have caused her. In Sweet Mangos, the author speaks about her adoration of her man and how she wishes to please him. Every poem takes you on a journey of compliments, extolling the virtue of her love for a man. As a man, it makes you wish he were you. Sweet Mangos... Reviewed by: Marc Livingston Rating: 5 Who would you recommend this book to? Friends, family, book club members, and paranormal book lovers What did you like most about this book? I loved the book Mahogany Soul. In fact I stayed up all night to finish it. I loved the friendship between Jordan, Val and Marie. I also enjoyed the relationship between Edric and Valarie. I loved when she had to adjust to all the new things that were happening in her life; it was like watching a child discover crayons. What did you like least about this book? The ONLY thing that I did not like was the fact that her family just accepted her disappearance (but that is just a matter of opinion). They were so close and I think that they would have questioned her being gone even though it was with Edric. …Oh and I did not like that she slept with the other guy. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I loved this book. I thought it was well written, and the characters well developed. What was your overall impression of this book? I loved the book. I loved how it flowed and how the relationship developed between Valarie and Edric. To be honest I did not know what to really expect, but I could not put the book down, it was so good. The story line just flowed with just enough surprises to keep you guessing. The suspense had me looking around every time I heard a wayward sound in my home especially when she was in the laundrymat. I am hoping that the author will give us the stories of Jordan , Marie as well as Troy. The secondary story about Valarie's mother was great reading as well. I look forward to reading more from this author. Reviewed by: Cassandra Baker-Durham Rating: 4 Who would you recommend this book to? All Readers What did you like most about this book? What I liked most about the book I Love Him, He Loves Me Not is the storyline. The story captures you from the beginning. With such a strong storyline, readers can actually picture the events in the story happening in real life. What did you like least about this book? What I like least about the book is that it could have been a little longer and went more in detail in some of the chapters. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? I have no suggestions on making the book better as far as the story. The cover of the book in my opinion will capture the eye of readers if it was much brighter and since the characters were about 2 women and a man, the author could have put 2 women and a man on the cover. What was your overall impression of this book? My overall impression of the book was that it was very good. The storyline is something that everyone can see happening. Valley who is a young woman starting college, gets swept off her feet by a young man named Rames. Unfortunately, Rames is dating Valley's best friend. I love how the writer wrote the story. The storyline was strong and the characters were believable. The story holds true to actual real life happenings. There are some women who will do anything to get or hold on to a man. I recommend this book to all readers. Valley will take you on a good journey. Valley is unpredictable and ruthless. Reviewed by: Barbara Morgan Rating: 4 Who would you recommend this book to? Anybody who likes reading about drama What did you like most about this book? The fact that it dealt with real life issues that take place in the black church. What did you like least about this book? The story started out really slow. Any suggestions for how this book could have been better? The only suggestion I have is that the author should have given the readers something in the beginning of the story that makes them want to continue reading. What was your overall impression of this book? Overall this was a good book if you can get past the beginning of the book. The slow start made reading it tedious. It had its moments, so I am glad I stuck it out. In this book N.S. Ugezene deals with the reality of reality television. It also deals with some of the realities of life in the church in that sometimes people are not who they seem to be. If you like drama, dirty dealings, and underhandedness then this is the story for you. Reviewed by: Vanessa Harris |
